The Food Bank has the following regular volunteering opportunities:
Weekday Mornings (Except Thursdays) 10am - Midday - Come along and join our team who work at the warehouse doing a variety of tasks including, sorting stock, splitting bags of rice, pasta sugar etc into smaller quantities, making up food parcels etc.
Thursday Mornings 10:45am - 12.15pm - Come and help at our serving session which takes place at Milton Keynes Christian Centre. Duties are varied but could include serving our clients as they come and collect their food parcels, chatting to them and making them feel welcome. Making tea / coffee etc.
If you are interested in any of the above opportunities please give Helen a call on 01908 322800 or e-mail thefoodbank@mkcc.org.uk so we can arrange an informal interview
For Ad-hoc volunteering opportunities please check out our Events Page where there are various opportunities to get involved.
Could you encourage your work colleagues, pub or club members, child’s school or Church to donate just one tin of food a month and become one of our growing band of Satellite Collection Points? Every single tin makes a difference. Please click here to download a Satellite Collection pack in zip format here.
Why not raise money for The Food Bank by doing something you enjoy or are good at. A team from Olney recently ran the Olney Pancake Race to support The Food Bank and raised almost £700 whilst having a great time. They made use of our Just Giving link which enabled them to create their own page to raise sponsorship. Check out the photos via our Photo Album link on the left hand panel.
Why not become a Food Bank volunteer? The Food Bank relies almost entirely on volunteers in order to provide this essential service to our community. We are very grateful to this army of people, well over 30 at the last count, for all their efforts and support.
Tasks include the sorting and storage of stocks, making up food parcels, manning The Food Bank Centre on serving days, leaflet distribution etc. Please visit our web photo album for pictures of the Food Bank volunteers in action. Most opportunities are during normal working hours, however, The Food Bank does require help for specific events from time to time so why not get involved?
