I Need Help

To qualify for help, families and individuals have to be referred to The Food Bank by registered Care Professional Groups, such as Social Services, MK Council Tenant Support Team, Probation Service, Citizens Advice Bureau, Age Concern etc. All Churches, Schools and Doctors Surgeries also have the ability to refer.

These Referral Agencies issue Food Vouchers to families and individuals recognised as bona fide people in need of help from The Food Bank. In this way, only those who are qualified by recognised need can benefit from the service. Under normal circumstances, a maximum of three vouchers would be issued to individuals/families in a rolling 12 months, giving them a total of nine days supply, however it is recognised that in the current climate and with the recession still affecting so many people, this number may need to be extended. The Food Bank is happy to work with the Referral Agencies in these circumstances.

In addition to providing emergency food to families and individuals, The Food Bank also from time to time is able to support a number of Homes for the Elderly with food parcels. Many of our elderly citizens live out their retirement in some poverty and these donations have been a source of much gratitude from both residents and staff of these Homes.

Referral Agencies

The Food Bank relies on its network of Referral Agencies to ensure that the service is made available to all local people who experience a crisis.

If your organisation is not currently a referral agent and you would like to learn more about becoming a one, then please e-mail the following information to thefoodbank@mkcc.org.uk
