The Food Bank Special Events

The Food Bank regularly holds events that are designed to raise awareness of our service, promote food collection and raise the necessary funds to ensure we can continue to help local people in a crisis situation.

Forthcoming Events:.

• Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th August - Supermarket collection at Woburn Sands Co-op between 10.30am & 3.30pm. If you are local to Woburn Sands then please do come along and support this collection by buying an item and donating it as you leave the store.
• Friday 1st & Saturday 2nd October - MK Food Collection Campaign - volunteers required to man a stand in Midsummer Place from 9am - 5pm on both days. This event is being arranged for The Food Bank by Mercedes-Benz UK who will also have volunteers on site. There will be an advertising campaign in the local papers and local radio to encourage people to bring food along to fill the van which will take pride of place on the stand. This will be a great opportunity for The Food Bank, so if you want to be part of something momentous, then please sign up for a couple of hours NOW!
• Saturday 30th October - Milton Keynes Christian Centre Open Day - MKCC has been building a new auditorium on their existing plot at Strudwick Drive, Oldbrook which will create an amazing venue that the whole community can benefit from. To commemorate the opening of the new facility, there will be an Open Day where all the various elements of MKCC will be displayed, from The Food Bank to Frantic, from Tiny Steps Day Nursery to Time Out, a club for the over 60's. So do come along between 12 noon & 4pm to see what is on offer.
• March 21st - 27th 2011 - The BIG little Give! An event to encourage the people of Milton Keynes to feed the people of Milton Keynes. If every household donated just one item from our Food Bank shopping list, our concern about having enough food to meet the growing demand in our community would vanish overnight! The Food Bank plans to set up local donation points in all areas of the city to make it easy for everyone to take part. If you would like to set up a donation point or help withthe organisation of the event please e-mail Sue at thefoodbank@mkcc.org.uk or call her on 01908 322800 Further details about this event will appear on the website in due course.

Harvest Festival

In 2009, 41 Churches, 44 Schools and many local organisations and businesses helped The Food Bank, by holding a Harvest Festival Collection. Click here to see the full list and check out our photo album for harvest photos.

Why not join this band of supporters and donate your harvest collection for 2010 to The Food Bank. We can provide you with literature to help you promote your Harvest Festival and we are also happy to come and do a talk about our work, which will touch the hearts of your audience and help them to appreciate the importance of their donations to local people.
